Dear MoveOn member,

MoveOn made the headlines of The New York Times on Friday with the launch
of our 2024 election plan, which the Times called "ambitious."^1

It absolutely is ambitious. It has to be. The stakes could not be higher,
as our country teeters between democracy and fascism, and with Donald
Trump—who has been found in separate court rulings to have committed rape,
defamation, business fraud, and insurrection—as the presumptive Republican
presidential nominee.^2,3,4,5

The MAGA movement has taken over the Republican Party. The establishment
government officials who hemmed in Trump during his first term are no
longer in the room with him.

Now, Trump is promising to be a dictator "on Day 1" and says that
immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country."^6,7

We have already lost the freedom to control our own bodies. We cannot
stand by and see what freedoms we lose next.

No, it is time to act to save our democracy. And that's where MoveOn's
election program comes in.

Will you donate $5 a month to support our ambitious election
plan? MoveOn is a grassroots organization, and our resources come from
you, our members, so we need your sustained support to execute our plan.

In 2020, MoveOn pioneered "vote tripling" at scale—a voter turnout method
that is as much as FIVE TIMES MORE EFFECTIVE than traditional methods.
FIVE TIMES! Take a look at this simple chart:

Impact of Voter Contact Efforts on Voter Turnout

MOVEON'S VOTE TRIPLING METHOD |====================

Vote tripling is organizing people to turn out three of their own friends
or family members. We honed it in 2020 and 2022, and it's extremely
effective, because it's based on existing, trusted relationships. In fact,
in the 2022 midterm elections, MoveOn's election program turned out an
estimated 48,000 to 50,000 voters in battleground districts and states!^8

That's an incredibly exciting result. Look at it this way: In 2020,
President Biden won the Electoral College by a mere 44,000 votes in
Georgia, Arizona, and Wisconsin COMBINED.^9

That's why we were thrilled to announce, first in The New York Times, that
in 2024, MoveOn will spend $32 million on highly effective
get-out-the-vote efforts—including vote tripling!—to back President Biden,
end MAGA control of the House, and stop a MAGA takeover of the Senate.^10

With support from MoveOn members, we can accomplish everything we've set
out in our plan. Together, we'll tip the scales and save our democracy in
an election that is expected to have razor-thin margins.

Will you donate $5 a month to help MoveOn double down on
our proven get-out-the-vote tactics, which are up to FIVE TIMES more
effective than traditional methods?

Our 2024 organizing aims to reach surge voters—voters who became active
for the first time, or became more active, after the 2016 election. These
are voters who are, all too often, ignored by the political establishment.
They historically vote for Democrats, but they need additional outreach to
vote.

Months of intensive analysis by MoveOn's team of data scientists show that
there are more than 11 million surge voters who live in the most critical
battleground states. That's 11 million voters we can work to reach through
our proven method, if we have the funds.

In 2020 and 2022, MoveOn's programs had a huge impact when it came to
turning out surge voters. In 2020, we collected more than 1 million vote
tripling pledges in support of the Biden-Harris ticket. And in 2022, we
contacted more than 42 million voters—and, as mentioned earlier, helped
turn out 48,000 to 50,000 critical battleground voters who may not have
voted otherwise.

Those are big numbers, particularly when you consider that, in 2020,
President Biden defeated Trump by only 10,457 votes in Arizona—less than
one half of one percent of the vote.^11

And in Georgia, Biden defeated Trump by 11,779 votes—just 0.23% of the
vote.^12

MoveOn's get-out-the-vote program could—once again—help tip the scales in
key swing states. With the stakes as high as they are this year, we cannot
afford to fall short of our ambitious goals.

That's why we are writing today, after announcing our plans in The New
York Times, to ask you to help fully fund this important plan. Our
election work already began this past Sunday, which is the earliest MoveOn
has started our election program in our 25-year history.

With MoveOn's 2024 election plan already underway, your sustained support
is needed through Election Day. If you can help out, it'll make a big
difference! Will you start a $5 monthly donation now?

Reaching out to critical voters multiple times and mobilizing them to get
to the polls will cost tens of millions of dollars in 2024. But with a
program that is up to five times more effective than traditional
phone-banking, an early investment in MoveOn's vote tripling efforts is
one of the best 2024 election investments you can make.

Thanks for all you do.

–Mohammad, Corinne, Ankur, Amanda, and the rest of the team

P.S. Did you see that right now, as we're launching our election program,
dark-money groups are directly attacking MoveOn? Earlier this month, a
billionaire-backed political operation filed a baseless legal complaint
asking the Justice Department to criminally investigate us. It's nothing
more than an attempt to weaken MoveOn by draining our financial resources
and forcing us to spend money on legal fees, at a time when every dollar
should go to turning out voters. And Bill Barr, Trump's former attorney
general, now is escalating the attack.

Your donation to MoveOn today will help us prepare to fight the baseless
claims and still have the resources to continue to fully implement our
highly effective 2024 election plan. Are you in?

Want to support MoveOn's work? The MAGA movement's book bans have forced
teachers and librarians across the country to remove books from their
shelves and censor what young people can learn. MoveOn is fighting back,
including by filling a "Banned Bookmobile" with books that the far right
has banned and driving it to key cities and towns to raise the visibility
of book bans, hand out banned books for free, and bring people together to
stop censorship. To keep up the fight against book bans and the MAGA
politicians who support them, we need your help.
