John,
At the beginning of this month, I sent out a campaign survey to hear from people like you on which issues matter most to you and what you hope our campaign will prioritize.
We received an overwhelming number of responses from people everywhere, but one response that stood out was concern for our democracy.
In these last few weeks, it has become abundantly clear that Donald Trump is expected to be the Republican nominee for president this November.
As a Member of Congress and former CIA officer, I have taken an oath multiple times to protect and defend the Constitution, and I’ve seen how fragile democracy is, especially when extremists are undermining our institutions and sowing distrust. Like many Americans, I have been proud that our institutions held, not just during his four-year presidency but in the aftermath of the 2020 election and amid the efforts he led to undermine and overturn the results of that election. However, our institutions did not hold on their own. They held because of people supporting them and protecting them – people across the spectrum from Administration appointees to Members of Congress to local and state elected officials to our fellow Americans willing to speak the truth.
I want you to know that as Governor of Virginia, I will continue to defend our democracy, uphold our institutions, and protect our rights. I need your help, though. Will you join us today with a contribution?
