Friends, violence like this has become our reality.

The pain and the loss from these tragedies are felt from coast to coast.

All of this pain and loss leaves us with just one question: how many more will have to suffer before we take action?

Requiring universal background checks nationwide is a necessary first step, but Mitch McConnell still won't let the Senate vote.

So today we are calling on him to take action and we need your help.

Sign our petition to Mitch McConnell and demand that he hold a debate and a vote on universal background checks. We can save lives, but only if we work together.

Congress is staring a violent epidemic in the eye and choosing to ignore the warning signs.

We have a choice to make: we can choose to continue to look the other way or we can choose to take bold, courageous action and save lives.

For us at Giffords, the choice is clear. We will never stop fighting until we pass laws that will protect our family and friends.

So if you're with us, sign our petition to Mitch McConnell and demand that he hold a debate and a vote on universal background checks. We can save lives, but only if we work together.
