John, my friend Fred Guttenberg notified me of some deeply disappointing news today. The GOP-controlled Florida House of Representatives is attempting to curtail the gun safety legislation passed in the wake of the Parkland massacre back in 2018 – just weeks before the six-year remembrance of the shooting that killed Fred’s daughter Jaime and 16 others.

I’m disgusted by this shameless disregard for the safety of our children and communities. Once again, Republicans are showing they prioritize their loyalty to the NRA over protecting their constituents from the horrors of gun violence.

This news underscores the pressing need for elected officials who will stand up to the gun lobbies and work tirelessly to end gun violence. I’ve been committed to this since I was first elected to Congress – can you donate to my re-election campaign before my end-of-month deadline so I can keep up this work beyond 2024? [[link removed]]

DONATE [[link removed]] John, the Parkland massacre was actually a key factor in my decision to run for Congress in the first place. I’d been working as an activist in the gun safety movement since my son Jordan was shot and killed in 2012, but when I heard about the tragedy at Marjory Stone Douglas High School on February 14th, 2018 and watched our federal government’s inaction, I knew I had to do more.

The devastating losses in Parkland inspired lawmakers in Florida to pass waiting periods and age restrictions for firearm purchases in the state. Common-sense legislation like this is proven to save lives – but now, they’re hoping nobody will notice as they pull them back.

We must continue to raise our voices and share our stories on the epidemic of gun violence in America. I won’t stop leading the fight in Congress, but now more than ever, I need your help to win re-election and continue this crucial work.

My end-of-month fundraising deadline is at midnight tomorrow. Will you help me hit my goals for January so I can win in Georgia’s 6th District? [[link removed]]
