We’ve known it for a long time: voters across America do not support extreme positions on abortion and reproductive healthcare.

From Kansas to Ohio, and with a much-deserved loss in the 2022 Midterms, voters have punished the GOP and voted overwhelmingly to protect abortion rights.

Now that extreme anti-choice Republicans have “caught the car” as Mitt Romney said, they are finding out that there are electoral consequences to pushing extreme, unpopular opinions on the public.

Take my opponent, Rep. Troy Balderson, as a perfect example. In 2022, his campaign website featured a “Faith and Values” section, which included this: “Troy believes life begins at conception and is 100% pro-life, and it’s why Ohio Right to Life PAC has endorsed his campaign.”

Now? This section has been deleted on Balderson’s website; his campaign makes no explicit reference to his stance on abortion and choice apart from an endorsement by a pro-life PAC.

Voters also really hate political hypocrisy and cowardice—and Balderson, by trying to hide his extremist views, has now achieved the trifecta.

But cowards like Balderson will only suffer political consequences if we expose them to the voters, and that means we need to work to raise significant resources.
