Dear John,
As you read this, the Senate is negotiating a $1 Trillion coronavirus aid bill that would do more for corporations than everyday people.
Millions of people are losing their jobs. Thousands of small businesses are shutting their doors. Our health care system will soon be over-capacity. Food security is a real issue for families across the country. We need our leaders to direct aid to those in need.
But instead, they’re allowing this aid package to become another wish list for corporate interests and polluters. This bill is still under negotiation, so this is our best chance to ensure working people and families receive the protections they need. But we must act fast!
Fight Big Polluter bailouts in the coronavirus aid bill: Tell Congress to put people over corporations!
Now more than ever, we need our national leaders to restore public trust with a comprehensive financial security plan. But instead Mitch McConnell and the GOP Senate are too focused on protecting corporations.
McConnell’s $1 trillion aid package has billions in interest-free loans for airlines, the cruise ship sector and other polluting industries. Meanwhile, it has far too little help for workers and families.
We need a coronavirus aid package that protects everyday people. It must include things like expansions to paid leave and unemployment insurance, a better deal for student debt forgiveness, increases for Medicaid, and the expansion and preservation of SNAP (food stamp) benefits.
This is a crisis and our legislators need to put profiteering aside to protect people. A groundswell of public pressure from engaged activists like you will help ensure your Senators do the right thing!
Send a quick message to Congress: Demand your Senators put people over Big Polluters!
This is a dire situation, John. The coronavirus has shaken our communities. And it’s unacceptable that Senate Republicans are more interested in helping business interests rather than the public interest.
The only way out of this crisis is for everyone to come together and put the community over corporations. Our leaders must lead this charge.
Together we can send a loud, clear message to Congress: Put people over corporate profits!
Fight for our communities together: Demand Congress put people over corporate profits!
Standing with you,
Michelle Chan,
