We have nearly 90 legal projects that need volunteers! Today, we're highlighting a tax law project, a project in election work, and a project to help Afghan asylees.

Assist Low-Income Taxpayers with Tax-Related Legal Issues ([link removed])
Erie County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project
VLP provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals and nonprofits in Western New York. They need volunteer lawyers to assist low-income taxpayer clients with tax-related legal issues via direct referral from the organization. Tax law experience is a plus. Lawyers may have any bar license.
** 11—20 HOURS

Serve as a Poll Worker in Upcoming Primaries! ([link removed])
Power the Polls
With the 2024 primary elections already underway, poll workers are urgently needed to ensure that elections run smoothly, and that there are free, fair, and safe elections for all voters. Interested lawyers and law students should sign up with Power the Polls. ([link removed]) Lawyers may have any bar license.

Help Afghan Asylees with Green Card Applications ([link removed])
VECINA
More than 80,000 Afghans have evacuated to the US since 2021, and many have been granted asylum. The next important step on the path to permanent safety in the U.S. is applying for adjustment of status (green card), the process of becoming a lawful permanent resident. Attorneys are needed to assist Afghans granted asylum in filing these applications. Mentorship and training are provided, and lawyers may have any bar license.
