“The entire population of Gaza is enduring destruction at a scale and speed without parallel in recent history.”

This is what UN Secretary-General António Guterres said about the crisis in Gaza after more than 100 days of conflict.

The health care system in Gaza remains extremely fragile. Only 16 out of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are functional , but only partially. More than 90 health facilities and more than 80 ambulances have been impacted since the start of the conflict, due to hostilities, power supply disruptions, and fuel shortages, among other factors.

Heavy fighting near the remaining hospitals has effectively encircled these facilities, leaving terrified staff, patients, and displaced people trapped inside. Al Khair hospital shut down after patients, including women who had just undergone C-section surgeries, were evacuated in the middle of the night.

The maternity unit at Al Aqsa Hospital is not operating and is referring all pregnant women to another hospital further away, putting patients at risk during the additional travel time due to ongoing hostilities.

With the health care system on the brink of collapse, your emergency gifts are making a world of difference.

UNFPA has delivered over 245 different kits to support 10,000 births. We’ve provided enough equipment to support over half of the 18,000 births that have taken place since October 2023.

The humanitarian aid reaching Gaza still does not come close to meeting the needs of those impacted by this unprecedented crisis.

Will you rush an emergency gift to deliver lifesaving health care to the women and girls who need it most? They’re counting on your generous gifts for humanitarian aid. [[link removed]]

UNFPA deeply regrets the end of the humanitarian pause in Gaza. We condemn the violence in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank, including all sexual violence against women, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas.

Thank you for being there for women and girls.
