** Stop The Bleed Coalition Hosted Free Instructor Skills Trainings at Las Vegas SHOT SHOW
------------------------------------------------------------

Stop The Bleed Coalition || Jan 30, 2024

The STOP THE BLEED® Coalition is continuing to expand the NEW STOP THE BLEED® Instructor Licensing program. This year, at select events around the country, the Coalition will be offering STOP THE BLEED® Skills Training in order to qualify individuals to become STOP THE BLEED® instructors. The Coalition kicked off this new effort at the 2024 SHOT-SHOW in Las Vegas, working with partners Tactical Medical and Rescue Essentials. SHOT-SHOW attendees were able to sign up for the free training, watch a short video and visit either the Tactical Medical booth (#5145) or the Rescue Essentials booth (#60601) for their hands on skills session. After completing a session, individuals were able to apply to become licensed STOP THE BLEED® instructors. Additional opportunities for this Skills Training will take place throughout the year. So stay tuned!

If you can’t make it to one of these events, you can sign up for a Virtual Skills Verification session. Qualified individuals can apply to become a STOP THE BLEED® instructor ([link removed]) after which they will be able to sign up for a virtual session to demonstrate their knowledge of STOP THE BLEED® Skills.

As a Level II Trauma Center, Huntington Hospital stands prepared to treat trauma patients 24/7. However, our caregivers emphasize that effective trauma care starts the moment an injury occurs. Frequently, it is the know-how of a bystander that gives our patients a second chance at life. That means YOU could increase a person’s chance of survival before they reach our doors.
Introducing STOP THE BLEED® - a free, educational session where you will learn how to control the severe bleeding that follows a traumatic injury. The program offers hands-on demonstrations and valuable information on using tourniquets and packing to control bleeding after a traumatic event.
“Severe bleeding can kill someone within minutes before EMS or other public safety providers arrive,” says trauma program manager Michelle Baker, RN. “This training can help everyone – from an experienced physician to an elementary school teacher – learn how to help stop or control an actively bleeding injury, which may have resulted from a fall, car crash, work accident, or an active shooter event.”
If you are interested in hosting a STOP THE BLEED® training session for your workplace, school, or organization, email [email protected].
