Today, we find ourselves at a pivotal point in the movement for social justice. We’re entering an election cycle that could set our democracy back generations. Communities are still reeling from recent Supreme Court decisions that have upended abortion rights, curtailed affirmative action, and limited voting rights protections. And we remain outraged by the ongoing attacks on the transgender community; the growing backlash to diversity, equity, and inclusion programs; and the mounting violence and suffering in Israel and Gaza.

These events have ignited an urgent call to action that cannot be ignored.

In the face of these extraordinary challenges, Tides has grappled with a pressing question: How can we, as a community, rise to meet this historic moment? The answer is clear: We must set a bold new course to shift power to communities that have, for far too long, been denied it. We are rededicating ourselves to this essential struggle for justice, and invite you to join us.

Leaders from communities denied power — many members of our own Tides community as grantees, fund leaders, and fiscally sponsored projects — are the driving force behind the progress we seek to support and amplify. Tides is committed to building transformative solutions with you and providing the resources and platforms necessary to elevate your work and impact.

We’re committing ourselves fully to closing the voter turnout gap, advancing environmental and climate justice, creating a pro-immigrant future, investing in young women and LGBTQ+ people of color, and tackling health equity issues head-on. But to achieve a more just world, we need everyone passionate about social justice to join us in the fight. Your work, your voice, and your action are crucial in this struggle for a more just and equitable world.
