Hey, John: it’s time to take the 2020 Census!
By now, you should have received your Census form in the mail, but you also have the opportunity to complete it online or by phone.

What is the Census and why is it so important?
The Constitution requires an accurate and complete count of the nation’s population, aka the Census, and that information is then used to draw district lines and allocate seats in the US House of Representatives, state legislatures, and local boards. This information determines more than $800 billion annually in federal assistance to states, localities, and families; it also guides community decisions affecting schools, housing, health care services, business investment, and more!
A lot is riding on this – from where hospitals and fire stations are built to who represents our communities in Congress – and unfortunately, the Latinx community is still undercounted, and that can mean less federal dollars for the resources we need and less representation in government.
The Census only takes place every ten years and is a major way for the Latinx community to make our voices heard and get the representation we deserve. And with enough public pressure, we were successful at stopping Trump’s racist citizenship question, so everyone can take it without being fearful of disclosing their status.
Let us at VL know that you plan to take the Census or completed it already now. [[link removed]]
