Hi John,

After escaping with his life, my brother carried 78 bodies to mass graves. Turbo-charged by climate change, Typhoon Haiyan laid waste to my country. More than 6,000 people were killed.

Shell knows their actions are fuelling deadly events like this. They just don’t care. They’re trying to crush anyone who gets in their way – that’s why Shell is suing Greenpeace for $1.7 million. If you donated to help stop Shell last year John, thank you, but we haven’t reached our target yet and need all the help we can get.

Please will you stand with me and communities around the world who are vulnerable to climate-driven devastation, and help raise £1 million for our STOP SHELL APPEAL?

They’re trying to silence us and they’re trying to silence you – so no one dares to challenge them for profiting from destruction.

I’ve dedicated my life to standing up to climate criminals. Not just because of what my brother went through, or for those 6,000 poor souls. But for future generations everywhere, including my own children.

That’s why I chose to take action with other Greenpeace activists who have witnessed the horror of climate chaos, and occupy Shell’s giant oil platform last year in the North Sea. Because if we don’t fight for what we know is right, how can we face the next generation?

Now Shell is suing us for our peaceful protest. They’re assembling an expensive legal team with the aim of silencing us as we call for them to stop drilling and start paying for the climate destruction they’ve caused.

WE CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE THIS FIGHT.

If Shell win, the global environmental movement will be dealt a chilling blow, while oil giants' CEOs will pour even more money into disastrous oil and gas drilling with nobody to hold them to account.

The stakes could not be higher. Please join our STOP SHELL APPEAL, help us raise £1 million to fight Shell’s intimidation tactics and continue fighting their climate crimes – we won’t stop until they do.

Thank you for your support in holding climate criminals to account.

Yeb Saño

Executive Director of Greenpeace Southeast Asia

P.S. Shell have deep pockets and expensive lawyers, but they don’t have you. We’ve raised £300,000 so far – please help us reach £1 million to fight them in court.

We don't accept any money from companies or governments so we can be independent and challenge anyone who threatens the planet or peace. To help us keep fighting climate change, defending our oceans and protecting ancient forests, you can become a monthly supporter today. Thank you.
