Friend, it's been two decades since there was a federal ban on assault weapons – firearms designed to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
For the 10 years that a ban was in effect, deaths caused by assault rifles were notably reduced, confirming what we already knew: This policy saves lives, but the NRA made sure the ban ended and mass shootings skyrocketed .
Banning these weapons of war means stopping the next tragedy – because these weapons are the common link between all of the deadliest mass shootings in the US:
18 in Lewiston
22 killed in Uvalde
5 killed in Colorado Springs, while 25 others were injured
7 killed in Highland Park, while 48 others were injured
10 killed in Buffalo

We’ve pleaded with Congress to do something to address our gun violence epidemic, but they continue to fail us. Reinstating this lifesaving ban could not be more critical after multiple, record-breaking years of deadly gun violence.
