Dear john,
I've always campaigned to protect our greenbelt. We need affordable housing in the right places and that’s why I’ve always backed the need for a Local Plan that prioritises brownfield over greenbelt.
Stockport Council, led by the Liberal Democrats, needs to publish a Local Plan but so far no plan means our greenbelt is at risk from over development.
Today I spoke with the developer planning to build 60-homes on the land off Lytham Drive in Bramhall, to relay the concerns of hundreds of residents who have contacted me and signed my petition. The developer confirmed that without a Local Plan from the council any developers can apply to build over our greenbelt.
Right now developers are pushing to build on our precious greenbelt land
in Bramhall off Lytham Drive,
in Norbury and Woodsmoor on Jackson’s Lane, and
on the Golf Course in Gatley
all the while the local council and Liberal Democrat Councillors vote for more and more houses, risking a flood of planning applications concreting over our precious green spaces.
You can support the campaign here by signing my latest petition protecting the greenbelt by Lytham Drive. Scan the QR code below to have your say!
Whilst some remain tactically silent I’ve raised the issue in Parliament, presented our petitions and continue to fight and stand with local people who think we should prioritise brownfield.
I’d like your views on this and other issues too and invite you to complete my local survey on my plan for our local area.
Best Wishes,
