This announcement is made possible through the tireless work of the White House’s first-ever Office of Gun Violence Prevention, an office we rallied for and won! Key highlights in this Executive Order include:

— New action from the U.S. Department of Education sending a letter to school principals on the importance of safe storage.

— New communications templates for principals and school leaders to engage with parents and families on the importance of safe firearm storage.

— A guide from the U.S. Department of Justice to provide subject matter expertise on different types of storage devices and best practices for safely storing firearms — the most comprehensive guide on safe storage ever released by the federal government.

For nearly six years, our team has been advocating for the federal government to put gun violence prevention front and center on its agenda. Now, it is.
