Open to individuals, advocacy groups, and community organizations, we created this online form to collect on-the-ground perspectives about the 60-day rule to assist with our investigation.
Firsthand accounts are a crucial and integral part of our information-gathering process. Stories from real New Yorkers will help us fully delve into how the 60-day limit impacts shelters, schools, and stability.
Please Note: Any information in this form will not be voluntarily disclosed by the Comptroller’s office and no identifying information will be included in any published investigation report.
The right to shelter is a cornerstone of New York City’s social safety net that guarantees a roof over the head of every New Yorker. As a City, we should focus our efforts on providing the legal services and case management that would help our newest New Yorkers get work authorization, jobs, and land on their feet.
Instead, City Hall is continually failing to manage this humanitarian emergency with competence and compassion. We don’t have to be a City that kicks our most vulnerable families to the curb. I once again call on City Hall to immediately rescind the 30- and 60- day limit policies and improve conditions for people waiting for shelter.
If you, a neighbor, loved one, or community have been affected by the Adams Administration’s shelter limit policies, consider submitting a first-hand account here.
Thanks,
Brad
