Annual Retail Trade Survey: 2021-2022 [ [link removed] ]

U.S. Retail sales (NAICS 44-45) increased 8.0% from $6,519.8 billion in 2021 to $7,041.0 billion in 2022, according to new estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau?s 2022 Annual Retail Trade Survey (ARTS) [ [link removed] ].

Men's Clothing Stores (NAICS 44811 [ [link removed] ]) had $10.8 billion in sales in 2022, up 27.9% from 2021. This was one of the largest year-to-year increases of any retail industry in 2022.

Other highlights:


* Motor Vehicle and Parts Dealers? (NAICS 441 [ [link removed] ]) sales increased 2.9% from $1,478.4 billion in 2021 to $1,521.0 billion in 2022.
* Grocery Store (NAICS 4451 [ [link removed] ]) sales increased 8.2% from $793.4 billion in 2021 to $858.3 billion in 2022.
* Gasoline Station (NAICS 447 [ [link removed] ]) sales increased 28.5% from $572.7 billion in 2021 to $736.1 billion in 2022.
* Electronic Shopping and Mail-Order Houses (NAICS 4541 [ [link removed] ]) sales increased 9.5% from $1,019.9 billion in 2021 to $1,117.0 billion in 2022.

U.S. Merchant Wholesalers Estimates from the Annual Wholesale Trade Survey: 2021-2022 [ [link removed] ]

U.S. merchant wholesalers had sales of $11,382.3 billion in 2022, a 17.4% increase from $9,693.4 billion in 2021, according to estimates [ [link removed] ] from the Annual Wholesale Trade Survey [ [link removed] ] (AWTS) released today by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The data are accompanied by a data visualization [ [link removed] ], which provides statistics for U.S. merchant wholesalers (excluding manufacturers' sales branches and offices).

Estimates are published at the national level by 2-digit through 4-digit North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes. Data are also released for NAICS 42343 (Computer and Computer Peripheral Equipment and Software Merchant Wholesalers) and NAICS 42345 (Medical, Dental, and Hospital Equipment and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers).
