Never forget you are not alone.

John,

I wanted to reach out during these difficult times. COVID-19 is exposing the cracks in our system, the myriad of ways in which we are so deeply vulnerable.

It might seem easy to slide into anxiety and panic, to stockpile and shelter. Alarming reports tell us that the LGBTQ community is particularly vulnerable to this new virus. Right now, there is nothing more important than staying safe. I urge you to take all the precautionary measures you can.

I’m so proud of the work we’ve done to elect these amazing advocates. Our LGBTQ officials and candidates are showing real leadership, quickly adapting to new campaign strategies and finding new ways to connect with voters. But in order to remain agile, our staff and candidates need your help. Please consider donating today to help Victory Fund remain strong during this crisis.

It’s a hard reality that while safety remains a top priority for Victory staff, it means we will take a financial hit. Our National Brunch is not only our largest fundraiser of the year, but our chance to reconnect with our DC community. And with Pride events across the country cancelled, we’ll miss the chance to celebrate and gather new supporters.

Delaying events – while the right choice - means we are putting enormous pressure on our team and candidates to fundraise through alternative means. If you can donate today, it will help elevate budget shortfalls and support our candidates.

As you practice social distancing and help flatten the curve, never forget that you are not alone. While we might not be able to gather in person, it’s never been easier to connect with our loved ones. If the national news seems bleak, never forget that there are a multitude of federal, state and local elected officials working around the clock to alleviate this crisis.

It’s become clearer and clearer over the last several weeks that our work to elect diligent public servants who will focus on our community’s safety is more important than ever. As elections are delayed and campaigns stretch on, it’s essential that our candidates and staff have the resources they need to remain adaptable. Their victory depends on us – and we depend on you. Make a donation today.

This is not the LGBTQ community’s first crisis. But like the crises before, we are coming together, finding solidarity and solace in each other. In November, we can change our government for the better, electing LGBTQ candidates that are pro-science and pro-sensibility.

But we can’t do it without you.

Your support – and your trust – during these dark times means the world. I can’t thank you enough.

Stay safe.

LGBTQ Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBTQ candidates win elections up and down the ballot, from sea to shining sea since our founding in 1991. We believe representation is power – so we elected U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kyrsten Sinema, Governors Jared Polis and Kate Brown, all seven LGBTQ members of U.S. Congress and countless candidates for state and local government, including Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod and Pennsylvania Assemblymember Brian Sims. And with an unprecedented number of LGBTQ people running for office in this year, we’ll need your support to make 2020 the next Rainbow Wave.
