Award nominations are now open

Dear John,

Metro Washington Council, AFL-CIO's Evening with Labor is our annual celebration of the powerful labor movement in DC and Maryland and all the victories, teamwork, and outstanding leaders of the past year.

Save the date! The 2024 Evening With Labor will take place on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 6:00-10:00 PM at Martin's Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD.

The centerpiece of this event are our annual awards honoring the union locals, organizations, and individuals who have gone above and beyond in the past year.

Nominations are now open for the 2024 awards! If you know an outstanding labor leader or organization, nominate them for one of this year's awards:

Ticket sales and sponsorships for this year's event will open in February. We expect to have some exciting new choices for sponsorships this year, and look forward to featuring your organization as part of the celebration.

Evening with Labor is always a highlight of our year. We hope you'll join us on April 12 and in the meantime, nominate a leader for one of this year's awards.

Take Action

Speak out for Fair Share Maryland

Last week legislators and advocates introduced the Fair Share Maryland revenue plan. As ATU Local 689 said, "Whether it’s for transit, schools, or any other vital public service for working Marylanders, now is the time to raise vital revenue by making sure the wealthy pay their fair share!" Support school nurses

School nurses and supportive staff are now floating between a "cluster" of schools — a model which DC Nurse's Association (DCNA) has made clear their concerns with this "cluster model" will impact student safety and wellbeing. Sign the petition.
