It might only be January, but summer is right around the corner!

Looking to book a campsite? We have a new website! Remember that residents can book 120 days in advance and non-residents 113 days out, so we're just now reaching the end of May for those reservations. reserve.wyoming.gov [ [link removed] ]

Thinking about a summer job? We have a variety of jobs available across the state - from Central Construction Office and maintenance, to fee booth and interpretive rangers! [link removed] [ [link removed] ]

Wyoming State Parks sent four first year and four second year students to the State Park Leadership School! This school, hosted by America's State Parks and the National Association of State Park Directors, is made up of representatives chosen by each state park system and sent to West Virginia for training. Courses are taught by directors from around the U.S. with special guests such as Roger Phelps from Stihl.

The four graduates are Heather Jolley (Medicine Lodge), Craig Howell (Boysen), Corey Jacobsen (Guernsey) and Brian Fritz (Guernsey).

First year attendees will return in 2025 to complete the school! First year students were (right to left): Jessica Moore (Sinks Canyon), Adam McKay (Curt Gowdy), Greg Devereaux (Keyhole), and me.

Women Who Hike had a great collaboration with the Trails Department! Thanks to Forrest Kamminga, Josh Milek, and Andrew Skiba who stepped in from the Central Construction Office to take ten women out on an unforgettable snowmobile ride. Our event was at Sinks Canyon State Park - we painted night sky scenes in celebration of the recent International Dark Sky certification, snowshoed, and had a compass demo from Brunton - a local woman-owned compass company. Women Who Hike is all about empowering women in the outdoors, so it's essential that we learn new skills, tough the elements, and find out that we can enjoy the outdoors safely (while having a lot of fun).

Our Boysen Women Who Hike is sold out, but we will be at South Pass City August 2-4 (women's history + CDT hiking!) and at Medicine Lodge September 20-22 (fly fishing). Those tickets will go on sale this summer!

Rae and Wyatt

In 2021 our agency hired "interpretive rangers" for the first time - two of us. In 2023 we hired on a third district. Summer of 2023 saw each of our five districts with a seasonal interpretive ranger in addition to the three permanent. This year, we're hiring four district interpretive rangers for the summer to add to our existing team. We made this easy for applicants - there's one application for all four spots and just the one round of interviews! Think what I do looks fun (it is)? Apply now: [link removed]
