Happy Kansas Day, John!
Today, we’re reflecting on our Kansan ancestors who waged a principled struggle for freedom. 163 years after their struggle made Kansas a free state, we honor their legacy by fighting for freedom in our doctor’s offices from government bans and intrusion. Though abortion rights should be a settled question after we voted “no” in August 2022, we’re honored to keep up the fight alongside you.
As we move deeper into the legislative session, we’re all called to raise our voices to stop politicians from passing abortion bans and restrictions. In particular, we’re tracking:
- House Bill 2492, an abortion ban that empowers vigilantes to enforce it
- House Bill 2515, which once again inserts politicians into the exam room
- Senate Bill 354, which tries to separate abortion from being a normal part of health care
All three of these bills are part of the same agenda to make abortion illegal and impossible to access. We need you to help us defend our rights from attack. Here’s how you can help, after you identify your State Representative and Senator here:
- Contact your legislators on social media
- Send your legislator an email
- Call your legislator and leave a message with their staff member (staff are heroes; please be kind!)
- Submit written testimony to the committee hearing the bill, or
- Attend a hearing and observe and/or testify in person
