Last Monday was the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court case that secured our right to safe abortions. Normally, this would’ve been a day of celebration and reflection on how far we’ve come — but because of the MAGA extremists, it serves as a reminder of how much we’ve lost.

I remember how I felt when I heard the news that Roe was overturned. I was furious at the conservative supermajority in the Supreme Court that made this regressive decision, and fearful for what this would mean for millions of American women.

While we mourned, the MAGA Republican Party celebrated — remember that. They were proud to have denied health care to pregnant women.

However, the American people didn’t take this setback lying down. In fact, reproductive freedom has won in every election since Roe was overturned. We need leaders who will represent the true interests of the people in office. That’s why this upcoming election is so important.
