Republicans like Rick Scott and Mike Johnson have tried different secretive schemes (like a closed-door ‘fiscal commission’) and deceptive tactics (like lying to the public) to try to cut one of America’s most important social safety net programs.
Bernie’s not only fighting cuts, he’s working to expand Social Security by raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires — and he needs all of our help to build support for this legislation.

Upon introducing the legislation, called the Social Security Expansion Act, Bernie said, “Right now, a Wall Street CEO who makes $30 million pays the same amount into Social Security as someone who makes $160,000 a year. Our bill puts an end to that absurdity.”
The bill would expand Social Security benefits by $2,400 a year and extend the solvency of Social Security for the next 75 years by making sure that the wealthiest people in America FINALLY pay their fair share into the system. Millionaires and billionaires should be funding the social safety net, not benefiting from tax loopholes.
