Dear NRDC Supporter,
I'm writing to you today because the Arctic's future is on the line.
Last month, construction of the climate-wrecking Willow Project roared back to life. If completed, this enormous oil drilling project could derail our clean energy future.
But it gets worse: ConocoPhillips recently received approval for more oil and gas exploration on hundreds of thousands of acres of land right next door to Willow.
NRDC is in court fighting to stop the illegally approved Willow Project, and they won't back down.
At this critical moment for the Arctic, your support is urgently needed.
Will you make a donation to NRDC to protect the Arctic and defend our environment on all fronts? Your gift will be matched $1-for-$1, up to $200,000, until January 31. Just $5 is all it takes to make a difference.
This rapid expansion of drilling in the Arctic must be stopped. It's reckless and heartless.
Once Willow is operating, it will pump a staggering half billion barrels of oil over the next thirty years. It threatens to derail the climate progress we're making and accelerate the climate crisis that's already causing so much suffering to nature and people alike.
But as we feared, Willow is just the start for ConocoPhillips. Their plans to expand beyond Willow would turn one of the greatest Arctic habitats into an industrial oil field.
We must not allow them to succeed.
Please join me and support NRDC's courtroom fight to save the Arctic — and our planet:
Make a matched donation of $5 today to NRDC and help the talented team of lawyers and campaigners win this critical battle for the Arctic and our planet.
My colleagues at NRDC have been fighting for decades to protect the Arctic. There's nowhere else on Earth like it.
From the sheer diversity of species to the vast unindustrialized wildlands, the Arctic represents one of the last unscarred ecosystems left on Earth.
The struggle to save the Arctic will be decided in the coming months. I hope you'll choose to support NRDC's urgent work to protect this priceless place.
Sincerely,
Robert Redford
