Policymakers must enact prudent solutions regarding education during the coronavirus pandemic, and not use the immediate response to this temporary situation to make permanent, costly changes.
California needs to work hard to help schools and families adjust by granting regulatory exemptions and distributing education funding equitably to reflect the current challenges.
It’s a sad irony when a country that prides itself on a tradition of free enterprise and “rugged individualism” downplays the value of private initiative and adopted a top‐down government‐run posture toward managing emergencies.
