As an official Sierra Club member, you'll make an impact on some of the most critical environmental issues we face today, like:
Stopping pollution and fossil fuel expansion. Last year we retired our 375th coal plant, successfully pushed the EPA to close an unlawful loophole in the Clean Air Act, and stopped a massive gas-fired power plant from being built in New Jersey. This year we're doubling down on fights to shut down dangerous oil and gas projects like the Line 5 pipeline, and more.
Protecting vulnerable wildlife and wild places. Sierra Club members – along with local Indigenous tribes, community advocates, and other partners – pushed the Biden administration to designate four new national monuments last year, and cancel a slate of disastrous oil and gas leases in the Arctic Refuge. We need you with us to keep up the pressure on leaders and government officials everywhere to save our nation's cherished public lands and iconic wildlife species that face habitat loss and extinction.
Supporting the transition to clean energy. Last year, outcry from Sierra Club members and our partners pushed five states to adopt new clean transportation standards, and our Community Advocates program trained volunteers across the country to empower locals to harness the federal funding made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act. We must keep up this momentum in 2024 to support solar power, offshore wind, and other sources of renewable energy.
