Williams Weekly

Dear Texans,

I spent the week in the district meeting with local law enforcement, elected officials, and constituents to hear about the effects Biden's border crisis is having on our local communities. As your Representative, I am committed to restoring law and order to keep our communities safe. Read below for an update on my work serving you and my ongoing fight to secure our nation.

Introduced the STOP Act

As the crisis at our border spirals out of control, President Biden, his border czar Kamala, and Secretary Mayorkas remain unphased. I introduced the State of Texas Operational Protections Act (the STOP Act) which affirms the State of Texas’ right to secure our southern border, including the construction of a border wall, and allows reimbursement from the federal government for any actions taken. This is simple common sense legislation to put the safety and wellbeing of Americans first. Texas policies and initiatives work, but Texans can't afford to wait on Biden to take this crisis seriously and secure our border. If the federal government refuses to take action, Texans must be allowed to protect our communities from this invasion on American soil. Read my full release here.

Demanded the DOJ End its Attack on Texas

If President Biden is not going to take responsibility for the invasion of our country, Texas must be allowed to protect itself without fear of retaliation. I, along with members of the Texas Delegation, sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland urging the DOJ to reconsider its harmful suit. It's past time they do their job and secure our border. Read the letter here.

Holding the Department of Education Accountable for School Closures to House Illegal Aliens

We know the results of prolonged school closures during COVID were devastating for America’s future generations. Reading scores plunged to their lowest levels in decades and math scores plummeted by the largest margin ever recorded. The numbers don't lie, yet Democrats continue to put America last. Closing schools to house illegal migrants is unacceptable and Main Street should not be forced to pay the consequences of Biden's failures. I will continue to hold the Department of Education accountable to ensure no students are forced out of their school to house illegal aliens. Read my letter to DOE Secretary Miguel Cardona condemning the closure of James Madison High School in New York City to house illegal aliens.

Introduced the Border Security Reserve Fund Act

Each year, millions of dollars seized at our borders go unspent. At a time where states like Texas are spending billions to do the job of the federal government and protect our borders from deadly illegal immigration, we should not allow any of these funds to go unused. I am proud to introduce the Border Security Reserve Fund Act to provide relief to the already strained states that are forced to protect our borders while Biden and radical Democrats ignore the crisis. Read my full release here.

Introduced the Evaluating the Financial Impacts of Illegal Immigration Act

The Democrat-created crisis at our border is taking a toll on Main Street, yet Biden has taken no action as the consequences of his failures trickle into all aspects of American life from physical safety to financial wellbeing. Our states and cities are not equipped to deal with the influx of millions of illegal immigrants who put a significant strain on our public resources. My legislation will hold government agencies accountable to report their findings on how illegal immigration is plaguing Main Street, and more importantly will implement financial solutions as we navigate this crisis.
