With tensions escalating across the Middle East, U.S. troops are in the region working to support our allies, stabilize the area and protect commerce shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

This mission is extremely dangerous. There have been at least 151 attacks against U.S. forces in the Middle East since Oct. 19.

The U.S. military and a group of allies have responded with strikes throughout the region. They stand ready to take further actions to neutralize threats or respond to further attacks and protect the security of the Red Sea region, but the situation remains extremely volatile.

At the USO, we remain as committed as ever to supporting troops deployed to the Middle East and all over the world during this turbulent time. When thousands of troops were deployed to the region following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, we were there to offer a kind word, a place to relax and a snack at USO airport centers along the way.

Our expeditionary team was there to greet thousands of sailors and Marines aboard the USS Bataan as they pulled into an Abu Dhabi port in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). While their ship was in port, they could visit a “pop-up USO morale space” nearby, where we provided Wi-Fi, food, games and comfort and hosted daily events to build camaraderie and offer support.
