The Biden administration has already taken steps to fight Big Pharma price gouging. Now, they’re close to taking a huge step forward.

American taxpayers pay to develop many life-saving drugs. But then we allow Big Pharma to charge 2-3 times more than those in other countries.

Enter: March-in rights.

If a pharmaceutical company overprices a medication developed with taxpayer money, the government has the right to seize the patent for that medication and then license other manufacturers to create affordable generic versions. The government has never used this power on medicines―until now.

The Biden administration is accepting public comments on how it approaches using its march-in rights. Big Pharma lobbyists will be seeking to put as many loopholes as possible into the rules. We need to let them know we’re watching.
