Why is Facebook driving them to extinction? ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Little pangolin on a grassy ground

John,

The adorable pangolin has been around for 80 million years -- it's survived everything you can imagine. But poachers are pushing pangolins toward extinction.

And Facebook is helping!

Investigators have discovered that a simple search on Facebook turns up listing after listing for pangolin parts on fake accounts. It's against Facebook's rules, but it isn't doing anything about it.

So let's make this a massive headache until they do. We already have a petition with over 250,000 signers. If just 5000 of us chip in, we can blanket Facebook with ads, targeting execs and employees, until they can't ignore it anymore.

Every $1 means we can show an ad to almost 100 people. Can you chip in to stop Facebook's pangolin trade before it's too late?

Pangolins aren't as well known as elephants or jaguars, but they're actually more trafficked than either of them -- up to 2.7 million pangolins a year are murdered for their meat and scales.

It's not only tragic, it's dangerous -- scientists say pangolins likely host other viruses that could easily spread to humans through contact.

It's shocking really how openly illegal pangolin parts are still being sold on Facebook. The platform's community standards already ban this -- but apparently we need to hold their feet to the fire for them to actually enforce it.

And the best way will be to make sure they can't miss our campaign. Every $1 means we can show it to almost 100 people -- can you chip in now to stop Facebook's pangolin trade?

Facebook is supposed to be about connecting people, and so many of us use it to catch up with friends or family. It's horrifying that others are taking advantage of the same structures to profit from the murder of nearly-extinct animals. We need to tell Facebook there's no place for this on our social media sites.

Thanks for all that you do,
Danny and the Ekō team
