Dear Friend,

It’s National Volunteer Blood Donor Month! Last year, I visited Delaware’s first American Red Cross Blood Donation Center in Wilmington to donate blood and talk with Theresa Young, the center’s executive director, about how giving blood can save lives. We’re currently facing an extreme blood shortage, so if you’ve donated blood recently – thank you! And if you’re interested in donating blood, visit redcross.org to find a location near you.

Calling on Congressional Leaders to Protect Funding for WIC

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) – a program that has become a lifeline for families, including 19,000 hardworking Delawareans. That’s why I recently joined over 160 House and Senate colleagues in calling on congressional leaders to ensure any final appropriations package fully funds WIC in the 2024 fiscal year. WIC is a critical component of the health and stability of families in Delaware and across the country and I will continue to work with my colleagues to protect it. REMINDER: Internship Applications Due March 18!

Having started my career in public service as an intern for then-Congressman Tom Carper, I’ve seen first-hand just how valuable of an experience internships are. That’s why I wanted to let you know that my office is now accepting internship applications for the summer of 2024.

Complete applications are due by Monday, March 18, 2024, by COB. This is an excellent opportunity for young people to learn about public service and gain experience working in a congressional office. For more information on how to apply, please visit my website here.

This week’s constituent corner is small business owner and chef Matthew Kern of Fenwick Island’s One Coastal! Matthew was recently selected as a semifinalist for Best Chef of the Mid-Atlantic at the 2024 James Beard Awards! Congratulations, Matthew, on such an exciting and well-deserved achievement for your excellence in the culinary arts. Delaware is rooting for you!

Yours in service,
