Over the past few years, law enforcement officers have faced unprecedented challenges with rising violent crime and the left’s efforts to undermine officers’ ability to safely do their jobs. This week, I hosted a roundtable discussion in Watertown to provide a forum for local law enforcement leaders to discuss the issues impacting law enforcement officers and problems facing our community.
I want to thank the law enforcement leaders that participated in the event: New York State Trooper Robert Simpson, Customs and Border Patrol Patrolman in Charge Andrew Reagan, Watertown Chief Charles P. “Chip” Donoghue, New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOBA) Vice President Bryan Hluska and NYSCOBA Associate Jason Combs. I was also joined by many local elected officials, including Assemblyman Scott Gray, Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush, Jefferson County Legislative Chair Bill Johnson, Watertown Mayor Sarah Compo Pierce, and representatives from the office of Senator Mark Walczyk.
Thank you to all of the public servants who attended this roundtable event and participated in the robust discussion on how we can combat the growing crime crisis in our nation and support brave law enforcement officers. I remain committed to ensuring that our law enforcement officers who serve our community have the resources they need to do their jobs effectively and keep our nation safe.
