Resources and Funding Available to New Hampshire Communities

As we head into 2024 and communities, towns, and small businesses look to the future, I want to share some exciting grant opportunities for New Hampshire. One of my most important responsibilities in Congress is to support my constituents by advocating for and helping deliver federal resources to New Hampshire.

Whether you run a small business, support a non-profit organization, or are an active community leader, federal grants and loans may be the right tools to further your mission and achieve your goals. Federal investments are a great way to bring our hard-earned tax dollars back to New Hampshire and support critical initiatives that help our state thrive!

This newsletter outlines a few of the opportunities available in New Hampshire – regardless of where you are in the process, my office is here to help!

USDA Rural Development Grants

The USDA Rural Development program offers a wide array of resources for New Hampshire rural producers and businesses.

Granite State rural businesses, producers, and farmers play a critical role in growing our economy — it’s essential they have the support they need to thrive.

The USDA Rural Development program has been key in expanding access to high-speed internet, strengthening our energy and transportation infrastructure, and closing the digital divide for businesses, health care providers, schools, and more across New Hampshire.

Last year, my office helped secure $1.9 million in Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) funds to help New Hampshire agricultural producers and rural small businesses invest in and upgrade renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements.

Community Development Block Grants

When we invest in our local communities, our state and economy thrive.

To grow our economy and bring new families to New Hampshire, we must invest in our communities and expand access to essential services, from child care to education.

Community Development Block Grants can be used for a range of projects, from expanding community health facilities to rental deposit assistance and homelessness prevention programs.

Last year, my office secured over $12 million in Community Development Block Grants to help towns and communities throughout Grafton County connect homes, hospitals, schools, and more directly to high-speed internet and make future technology upgrades less expensive and more effective!

Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Grants

We must use every resource at our disposal to end the substance use disorder epidemic and save lives.

As the founder and co-chair of the Bipartisan Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Task Force, my office is a fierce advocate for grants that fund essential health programs like the State Opioid Response (SOR) program. SOR grants provide communities and health care facilities with the resources necessary to combat the substance use disorder epidemic.

In 2023, New Hampshire received $28 million in SOR grants to help address the evolving addiction and overdose crisis in our communities and invest in treatment and recovery services.

International Holocaust Day: Today marks International Holocaust Day, a time to remember and honor the millions of Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust and the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution.

As antisemitism rises around the world, we must remember the lessons learned from the atrocities of the Holocaust and recommit ourselves to rejecting hate and bigotry in all forms.
