Friend, now is the time to make your plan to vote in Michigan’s Presidential Primary Election!

Michigan was chosen as an early nominating state in this year’s presidential primary election, making our voices stronger in the process. We need to turn out to vote to show that our diverse state should remain at the top of the calendar in the presidential nominating process.

Before you make your plan to vote, check your voter registration here to make sure you are registered to vote at your current address. Use our voter registration guide here if you have questions.

Then, decide how you want to vote this year. Did you know you have more options this year than ever before?

  1. You can vote without leaving your home using an absentee ballot. This year, you can also opt-in to Michigan’s Permanent Mail Ballot List to receive your absentee ballot automatically in the mail in future elections.
  2. You can vote early and feed your ballot into a vote tabulator at an Early Vote Center. The process is virtually the same as the process at your polling place on Election Day, but you get to pick the day and time that is most convenient for you (including weekends!).
  3. You can vote at your polling place on Election Day.

1 — I WANT TO VOTE FROM HOME

Voting from home is easy and convenient and your vote will be counted. But make sure you start as soon as possible! All registered voters can vote early from home using an absentee ballot. You don't need an excuse or reason.

  1. Request your absentee ballot online, by mail, or at your local clerk’s office. Request your absentee as soon as possible so you have time to fill it out and return it.
  2. Fill out your absentee ballot and follow the instructions before sealing it in the provided envelope.
  3. Return your absentee ballot by mail (we recommend by February 13th), at secure drop box, or at your local clerk’s office. Your clerk must receive your ballot by 8 PM on February 27.

2 — I WANT TO VOTE EARLY

For the first time ever, Michigan voters can now vote early! All Michigan voters will be able to vote early during the early voting period, which is February 17 - February 25. Your community may offer additional days of early voting.

Fill out this simple form to find your early voting information.

You can also vote in person at your local clerk’s office or satellite office before Election Day. Find your local clerk’s office here.

3 — I WANT TO VOTE ON ELECTION DAY

If you are registered to vote at your current address, you must vote at your polling place on Election Day. Polls are open 7AM - 8PM. Find your polling place here.

If you are not registered to vote or you need to update your voter registration information, you can register on Election Day at your local clerk’s office. Find your local clerk’s office here.

If you have any questions when it comes to voting, visit the Michigan Voter Portal or call the Hotline: 1 (833) MI-VOTES or (833-648-6837).

Thank you for being a voter!
