'Stand with Texas': Governors Back Lone Star State's Self-Defense on Border |
by S.A. McCarthy |
The governor of Texas is declaring his state has a right to self-defense against the "invasion" of unimpeded illegal immigration, and other red state governors are standing in solidarity. On Wednesday afternoon, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) issued a statement on the state's constitutional right to self-defense in light of the Biden administration's persistent negligence in securing the border. "The federal government has broken the compact between the United States and the States," Abbott wrote. "The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now. President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them." |

7 Reasons Why Border-Ukraine Negotiations Are Unlikely to Succeed |
by Joshua Arnold |
It was a good idea, but it probably won't work out. Last year, Republicans offered to go along with another funding package for Ukraine, if Democrats would go along with commonsense measures to secure our own southern border. As House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said last month, "I don't think it's a radical proposition to say that if we're going to have a national security supplemental package, it ought to begin with our own national security." |

Language Matters, and So Does the Way Pro-Lifers Talk about Life |
by Sarah Holliday |
"Republicans can't outrun abortion," wrote The Intelligencer's Sarah Jones. She went on to state that those who are pro-life are of "a party that shows no mercy." Apparently, pro-lifers "like to play language games" in order to "obscure facts," which, according to Jones, has "unleashed great suffering" for women. Especially since the overturning of Roe v. Wade. |

by Sarah Holliday |
Gudrun "Gunna" Kristofersdottir is a Florida-based nurse practitioner who works at the CVS MinuteClinic. Or rather, who used to work there. Due to her deeply held Catholic beliefs, Kristofersdottir refused to provide contraceptives as a CVS employee, and she was able to do so through an approved religious exemption in previous years. However, CVS changed its policy in 2021 stating that it no longer grants "exemptions from ... essential MinuteClinic functions." As such, Kristofersdottir was terminated. |
