Idaho aims to punish healthcare providers and others for helping young people get abortions out-of-state.
Since Roe v. Wade was overturned, people across the country are being robbed of their reproductive freedom, including those in Idaho.
The GOP-controlled state wants to criminalize healthcare providers and anyone who assists a minor access abortion care in another state.
It’s a threat not only to the health and safety of pregnant people in Idaho, but to the privacy and rights of people outside of the state as well: Californians could be punished for helping young people obtain a perfectly legal abortion.
This horrific anti-abortion law is yet another attack on reproductive freedom that I’m fighting to stop: this week, I joined a multistate coalition to introduce an amicus brief in support of the plaintiffs in the Matsumoto v. Labrador case, which will determine whether or not this draconian law will stand.
The decision to seek an abortion should be between a patient and their doctor — not politicians.
