Since 2012, Jill has led the nation in calling for a Green
New Deal to create millions
of good jobs to fight climate crisis and transition to a just,
sustainable economy and society.
While Jill’s call for a Green New
Deal has gone mainstream, both Democrats and Republicans have
continued to lead the world towards climate collapse. While
Republicans openly parrot the fossil fuel industry’s denial of climate
science, Democrats have largely given lip service to the climate
movement while continuing to push an “all-of-the-above” energy policy
that puts fossil fuel profits over human survival.
Just in the last few months, US oil production has hit an
all-time high under Biden,
while the UN Secretary General has warned that climate obstructionism
led by the US has “opened the gates of hell”. 2023 was the hottest
year on record, with massive heat waves, wildfires, and mega-storms
providing an alarming glimpse into the future if climate meltdown
isn’t stopped.
As the Green Party has pointed out,
if approved, the CP2 LNG project would emit 20 times more greenhouse
gas emissions than the controversial Willow oil drilling project in
Alaska, and the more than 20 LNG export facilities planned for the
U.S. Gulf Coast would release more climate pollution annually than the
European Union - the equivalent of 440 coal plants according to the Sierra Club.
Under a Green New Deal like the one
Jill champions, instead of planning new polluting LNG facilities in
the Gulf Coast’s “Cancer Alley” to export fracked gas to the EU, the
US could invest in heat pumps, energy retrofitting, and other green
technologies to completely phase out fossil gas heating within 10
years. That’s the kind of real climate action we need to
preserve a livable world for our children and future
generations.
Jill isn’t just the first candidate to call for a Green New
Deal on the national stage - she’s the only candidate calling
for a Green New Deal who’s on track to get on the ballot across the
country. But to keep up the pressure for real climate action, Jill
needs your help now.
Will
you donate now to help Jill qualify for matching funds so she can get
her climate action campaign on the ballot nationwide?
