John — We all already knew that 2024 was shaping up to be a critical election for the future of our democracy.

But now there’s a new twist that presents both an opportunity and a threat: California has more open U.S. House seats than at any time in the last decade.

More open seats mean more opportunities to flip districts. With the House Majority hanging in the balance, we have to ensure that Democrats (not Republicans!) capitalize on this opportunity.

That’s why our team at the California Democratic Party is launching our Red-to-Blue Open Seats Fund. We’re aiming to raise $10,000 in rapid response donations to ensure we’re organizing in every single flippable open seat. Will you pitch in?

An “open seat” is a U.S. House seat where no incumbent is running for reelection.

That means that voters get to choose from fresh candidates — which presents one of the best opportunities to flip a seat.

We want to take advantage of this in Republican-held open seats, but we must also be prepared to play defense in Democratic-held open seats.
