The Defending Against Manipulative Negotiators (DAMN) Act would prohibit the use of federal funds from being used in breaching or altering the Lower Snake River Dams and to prohibit the implementation of the Columbia Basin Restoration Initiative. The Biden Administration, since its campaign, has claimed to advocate for green energy solutions, yet disregards that notion when told to by manipulative environmental activists who do not understand how critical the dams are to the Pacific Northwest and a clean energy future. Throughout the Columbia River System Operations (CRSO) mediation process, key stakeholders and community members directly impacted by the litigation have been left in the dark as negotiations take place behind closed doors. This is unacceptable, and this administration should not be making agreements which circumvent congressional authority. The DAMN Act is the first of many pieces of legislation coming that combats this Administration’s radical, unfair, and unsubstantiated effort to destroy our dams and the livelihoods of the hundreds of thousands of people who rely on them. Read More on My Website Advocating for Educational Freedom For the past three years, the Biden Administration's policies have used America's K-12 education system to push biases in the classroom, prolong school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and have worked hand in hand with the National School Boards Association to target concerned parents as "domestic terrorists." This has been devastating for America's future generations, and parents have had enough. Parents deserve a wide variety of educational choices—whether or not they are wealthy enough to afford moving to a better school district or paying private school tuition. Knowing your options is important, which is why I co-sponsored a House Resolution expressing support for the designation of the week of January 21 through January 27, 2024, as ‘‘National School Choice Week.” National School Choice Week helps educate parents on all the options available for their children—including public, charter, magnet, online, private, and home education options. It is time for our leaders to ensure that America's children have the best possible opportunities for success because our children deserve better than the status quo. I will continue to fight for our future generations and the rights of parents. Discussing the Fentanyl Crisis on the Ari Hoffman Show Last week, I joined the Ari Hoffman Show to discuss the fentanyl crisis our nation is facing. Communities across Central Washington have been devastated by the epidemic of synthetic opioids like fentanyl—the leading cause of death for people ages 18-45 in the United States. This crisis touches every corner of our communities—both rural and urban—and it is past time to fight back. Last year, I started the Central Washington Fentanyl Task Force to pool the expertise of our community members to combat the escalating crisis. As a working group of individuals fighting fentanyl on the front lines in every sector, the Task Force executes well-informed initiatives aimed at reducing the threat fentanyl poses to our communities. Addressing this crisis demands a comprehensive, collaborative approach involving representatives from all levels of government and solutions that will address the needs of law enforcement, medical professionals, treatment facilities, schools, and all members of our communities. The fentanyl crisis is a pervasive issue sweeping the nation, and I am resolute in my commitment to enact commonsense legislation to safeguard Central Washington and prevent further unnecessary overdose deaths.
