KEY FINDINGS REPORT

This week, Vote Mama Foundation released a data-driven report on Campaign Funds for Childcare (CFCC), which is a proven structural policy solution for caregiving candidates.
 

The report highlights a few key facts that inform the work we do:

• Research shows that women are less likely to run for office if they have young children, which explains why just 6.8% of federal legislators and 5.3% of state legislators are moms with minor children.
• Data also shows that CFCC usage has exponentially increased due to successful lobbying efforts by Vote Mama Foundation -- including a surge in moms with minor children and candidates of color.

Politico covered the work that Vote Mama Foundation does to approve the use of Campaign Funds for Childcare in all 50 states. This coverage helps spread the message that in order to elect more moms, we have to break down the barriers that prevent them from running in the first place. We can build the political power of moms and we can start by passing Campaign Funds for Childcare.

NEW STAFF

In its five-year history, Vote Mama has endorsed over 450 pro-choice Democratic moms, and we’ve done it with a small team. This year, we expect to surpass 500 and have set an ambitious goal to endorse more candidates than ever this cycle. To support this kind of capacity, Vote Mama has nearly doubled in size!
