------------------------------------------------------------
A Women In International Security (WIIS) Virtual Discussion
Join WIIS on February 6, 2024, at 10 AM (EST) for a virtual discussion exploring the prevalence and response to conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV). Dr. Marc Sommers will discuss his latest book, We the Young Fighters: Pop Culture, Terror, and War in Sierra Leone. We the Young Fighters is the captivating story of war and peace through a pop culture lens, probing the terror-based warfare that emerged in Sierra Leone during the civil war and the widespread use of sexual violence during the war.
A panel discussion will follow with Dr. Dara Kay Cohen, author of Rape During Civil War and Ali Bitenga Alexandre who has focused on the motivations of combatants to resort to CRSV in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
