Just before the holidays, Pennsylvania Senate Republicans passed a bill mandating armed personnel in our public schools.
Friend, I’m deeply disturbed that Republicans’ top priority before adjourning for the new year was such a clear and concentrated attack on our public schools, and on the wellbeing of our students.
This legislation will not help our kids. Instead, it will increase the likelihood of mortality in school shootings — save nothing of how it will impact our students’ anxiety in the classroom, too.
Our Republican majority is so far out of step with the resources both Pennsylvanians and our public schools need right now. These policies are exactly why we need to flip the PA Senate this year, friend.
Will you rush a contribution of any amount so we can forge commonsense solutions for our students — not dangerous and reactionary laws — in our General Assembly?
Republicans would (and did) sooner mandate guns in our schools than get our students and educators the support they’re constitutionally obliged. This isn’t just disgraceful — it’s outright cruel.
Whether or not you can donate today, I want to make sure you know that fighting for our students, teachers, and public schools is a top priority for me this year.
If Republicans want to continue introducing laws that make our public schools functionally inoperable, so be it. But I’ll be fighting back against their horrible bills every single step of the way.
