HUGE victory! President Biden just announced he's stopping the approval of new liquified gas exports effective immediately. The devastation this would have had on our climate cannot be overstated – the emissions impact of all the proposed and under construction gas export projects is the equivalent of over 550 new coal-fired power plants.

The Biden administration did this because changemakers like you and frontline leaders from along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast took grassroots action by protesting, marching, sending petitions, posting on social media, talking with friends and family, lobbying elected officials, and so much more.

Help us celebrate this massive victory against big oil and gas by sharing on social media so that as many people as possible will see that when we organize, we can win!

What a way to end the week! President Biden just announced a pause on new liquified gas export terminals, known as LNG.

In his statement, President Biden committed to assessing the impacts of LNG on our environment and communities, citing the climate crisis as "the existential threat of our time." The administration also said they will "heed the calls of young people and frontline communities who are using their voices to demand action from those with the power to act."1

It has never been more clear that these projects are a terrible idea – we cannot afford the climate emissions. We cannot allow the pollution and health impacts to local communities. And exporting LNG raises energy prices for American families and devastates the Gulf Coast communities where these facilities are built just so fossil fuel billionaires can pad their pocketbooks.

We know the fossil fuel industry is fighting to block our progress. We must keep up the pressure on President Biden and the Department of Energy to protect this important victory! But that will only happen if we continue to strengthen our movement to stop dirty and dangerous fossil fuels.

Will you share on social media today to celebrate this win and show your friends and family what we can accomplish together?

Today's announcement is a massive victory for people and the planet against big corporate polluters. This win will protect the air we breathe, and the places we call home. It would not have happened without the 400,000 petitions from Sierra Club supporters and our partners protesting CP2, the largest of these gas export projects. Thank you.

In the wake of the U.S. commitment at COP28 to phase out fossil fuels, this action from President Biden and Energy Secretary Granholm is one of the most significant actions ever taken by any President to curb the dangerous expansion of fossil fuels.

The work is still ongoing, but today, let's celebrate this victory. In the coming weeks, we'll keep you in the loop on how we can fight against polluting fossil fuels and continue to roll back the expansion of dirty methane gas exports.

Together, we are building a clean energy economy that supports healthy communities and restores ecosystems. Today's announcement is a huge step to making this vision a reality. Share this victory now!
