It just got more affordable to buy an electric vehicle!
Because of the recent changes we made in the Inflation Reduction Act, tax incentives for electric vehicles are now available as an upfront rebate making electric vehicles more affordable for low- and middle-income households.
With these new changes, you can now get a tax credit at the time you purchase a new EV — instead of having to wait until next tax season.
This will help to significantly expand access to lower income Americans and make electric vehicles not just a dream, but a reality for millions of families.
In other good news, the cost of charging an electric vehicle is still cheaper than filling up a car on gasoline — by a lot! In most parts of the country, charging an EV is equivalent to paying $1-2/gallon on gas. The national average is $1.41 per eGallon equivalent for EVs, which is less than half the current price of gas.
With these savings, it has never been more affordable for Americans to make the switch to an electric vehicle and be a part of the climate change solution.
