Dear Friends and Constituents,
As we conclude week three of the legislative session, I am pleased to bring you the latest updates on the significant developments and decisions made during this time. First and foremost, I am excited to unveil the official name of our newsletter: Senator Salim's Senate Spotlight!
Legislative Achievements:
The Senate passed mt first bill, SB332, which addresses a small but crucial issue. This legislation changes the maximum charge for a class one misdemeanor from 365 to 364 days. This adjustment will protect legal residents who commit certain class one misdemeanors from facing deportation due to federal guidelines.
Additionally, my bill SB316 has passed the Senate. This legislation enables the Town of Vienna to exert more control over preserving their tree canopy.
