Rally at Congressman Adam Smith’s Office to Demand a Ceasefire in the Middle East:

Money for homes and education – not war and occupation!

The Seattle chapter of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), in coordination with Palestinian and Jewish organizations, is holding a rally outside the office of Congressman Adam Smith (WA-9), a high-ranking Democrat and member of the House Armed Services Committee. While 64 members of Congress have called for a ceasefire, Smith has not. Most Americans, especially Adam Smith’s constituents, support a ceasefire. Incidentally, Smith’s top 2024 campaign contributors were weapons manufacturers and the Israel lobby.

Congressman Smith is the ranking Democrat in the Armed Services Committee which is responsible for a record-shattering $886 billion budget for the US military. It is abundantly clear that Adam Smith is not representing his constituents who are suffering from a sky-rocketing cost of living. If he did, he would be using his platform to invest our tax-dollars in human needs like housing, education, and renewable energy rather than endless wars. Seattle DSA and our coalition partners will not stand for this, and the people of King County shouldn’t either. We invite the community and media to attend the rally this Friday from 4 - 7 pm.


We also ask that concerned community members sign our petition. Our demands are simple. Rep. Adam Smith must:

  1. Sign on to DSA Congressmembers Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib’s “Ceasefire Now Resolution” (H. Res 786).

  2. Vote against any funding for the Israeli military, so that money can be spent on urgent needs such as affordable housing, education, and healthcare.

  3. Oppose any US military operations that escalate toward a regional war
