Dear John,

This week, on what should have been 51 years of Roe v. Wade, we recommit ourselves to protecting reproductive healthcare.

Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe in 2022, Democrats have been focused on enshrining access to abortion. Voters across the country have also made their voices heard by protecting abortion care in states like Kansas, Ohio, and Kentucky.

I am grateful that my home state of California has taken significant steps to be a haven for those seeking abortion care, but your access to healthcare shouldn't be dictated by your zip code.

The Biden-Harris Administration has announced new measures to strengthen access to contraception, protect medication abortion, and ensure emergency medical care for women everywhere. These actions emphasizes this administration's commitment to reducing barriers to contraception access, educating patients on their rights, and defending the FDA approval of medication abortion.

I am a proud co-sponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act, federal legislation that creates a new legal protection for the right to provide and access abortion care, free from medically unnecessary restrictions and bans on abortion.

Abortion is healthcare, and I will fight to protect that right.

As always, please stay in touch regarding issues that concern you and your family

Sincerely,

Rep. Mark Takano signature
