Arizonans agree: The chaos at our border is a crisis. The present system is broken and not benefiting anyone — on either side of the border. It’s time for more resources and reform. And after decades of inaction, Washington has recently been on the brink of a bipartisan step forward.

But now Donald Trump has told his toadies to take no action on the border so that he can use it as an issue to campaign on in 2024. And David Schweikert has a big choice to make: bow down to his extremist leader, Donald Trump, or take real action on the border crisis.

We have no doubt that Republicans are going to make the border their issue to run on in 2024 — across America and here in Arizona. But one reason Andrei’s campaign has been getting historic levels of support is that Democrats know that, as a former border prosecutor, he has the credibility and experience to take this fight to David Schweikert.

This week, Mitch McConnell told a closed-door group of Republican senators that they wouldn't confront the border crisis because “We don’t want to do anything to undermine" Trump.

And Senator Mitt Romney admitted that the fact that Trump "would communicate to Republican senators and congresspeople that he doesn't want us to solve the border problem because he wants to blame Biden for it is really appalling."

David Schweikert has already voted to cut border patrol agents at a time of record need for more help at the border. Now he has to answer a simple question: Does Representative Schweikert represent Arizona or Donald Trump?
