John,

It’s a connection that many anti-abortion leaders and politicians don’t want to make, but it’s undeniable.

This is not the first time we have seen anti-abortion groups engaging with white supremacy and it won’t be the last.

Last week’s March for Life saw members of white nationalist group, Patriot Front, stationed at the back of the March during the rally portion of the event.

A screengrab of an X (formerly Twitter) post from Ford Fischer. Fisher’s text reads “Right Now: White nationalist group “Patriot Front” is at the back of the March for Life” The photo shows a group of men with face covers wearing blue jackets and khaki pants stands in the snow. A banner they hold reads: Strong Families make strong nations. They hold several flags that are red and white striped with a blue corner however one of the flags is upside down and in several the blue corner has a circular star design and other designs associated with the group Patriot Front.

Standing with white supremacists always goes too far, and anti-abortion leaders and groups will never stop embracing this violence and hatred because it’s really what they’re all about. We must be honest and clear-eyed about what ideology is driving the leaders pushing abortion bans. It’s long past time for zero tolerance.

Anti-abortion leaders and groups force their beliefs on others, and are intent on controlling people’s health care decisions. The fact that white supremacist groups are aligning with them is not surprising—regardless of what the anti-abortion leaders are willing to say aloud, they are united with the white supremacist groups in their goals for more white babies. Still, that makes it no less terrifying to see them standing on the same cold January day a stone’s throw away from the U.S. Capitol Building.

We all must stand up against this hate.

Sincerely,

Erin Matson

P.S. They want to distance themselves and pretend these clear connections don’t exist. We won’t let them. Give to help continue to expose them for who they truly are.
