The CARES Act- Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act introduced in the Senate leaves a lot of Americans behind during this crisis and that is unacceptable.

The act as it currently stands leaves the most vulnerable in our communities to suffer through this crisis on their own- the prison population, our unhoused neighbors, undocumented individuals in custody, individuals with disabilities, sex workers, students and more.

During such an unprecedented global event with COVID-19, this Act does not address a rent or mortgage freeze, the childcare and education crisis we are facing, predatory private student loan sharks, and does not provide the tax rebate to all Americans- only those who make above a certain amount of money.

It also does not include any direct actions to protect our working class- especially the workers in the front line of the crisis like our healthcare workers who keep our country healthy and our sanitation workers that keep our spaces clean and disinfected.
